ownersRichard and Sandy LePage purchased Unicorn Winery in June of 2008 after a number of years searching for just the right Winery in just the right location fulfilling a life long dream of owning a Winery capable of producing premium wines from premium grapes.
Sandy LePage, president, was raised in California and exposed early to the fascinating business of wine making. Sandy’s entrepreneurial experience includes more than 20 years of management level positions in various business operations demanding high quality for her clients. She has owned and operated a service-oriented business with great success. Her dream however always remained in the Winery business.
Richard LePage, secretary, continues to work for the Federal Government after retiring from the military and previously co-owned a fast food franchise. He also grew up in a wine producing environment. Spirit making is a long-standing LePage family tradition. Oral history confirms that wine and spirit making has been handed down through several generations of the LePage family since the mid-eighteen hundreds. Legend has it that Richard’s maternal grandmother learned her supreme marketing skills during the prohibition days in Oklahoma when the family continued to perfect its spirit making skills.
Richard and Sandy have a passion for all aspect of the wine industry. The LePage’s oversee every facet of growing grapes and making wine, including, vine tending, harvesting, fermenting, aging and bottling. They are a boutique winery and produce about 2000 cases annually. Their wines have been exceptionally well received by locals and by out of town guests who tour the winery facility. They feel totally blessed to have the opportunity to live, work and make wines on this picturesque property. Their joy is sharing Unicorn Vineyard and Winery with family, friends and visitors.
